Getting close to being bedridden!??

Our elderly mom deserves the very best and the comfort in life we can afford to give.  At 78 years old, she has started to experience aches and pains, some bothersome and most are superficial but we are here to understand her whims every now and then.   Lately, we’ve seen that she can’t sleep well enough and we believed it is about time for her to give up her old mattress to a luxurious bed with goose down duvets that will definitely send her to dreamland as soon as her body hits the bed. That is what I promised to convince her to have her bed changed complete with quality bedding and linens.  It is a luxury that my spendthrift mom thought to be expensive but I allay her worries because I told her that The White Company London offer quality and affordable furniture products and accessories to good to resist.
My only worry now is mom seemed to be taking much of her time on on her bed snuggling comfortably on the warmth of her silky soft bedding and she loved that goose down duvet so much because the weather is getting too chilly for her body temperature.
C’mon Mom, you need to mobilize and exercise too!  Part from your duvet from time to time!  That’s how we tease her everytime we come for a visit.. that she getting close to being bedridden….

Quality bed linens….

Oh my!  I really love this friend of mine because she never fails to use her thinking cap to come up with unique gifts  this Christmas.  In fairness, she is known for her good fashion sense  and taste.   Last year, she gifted my family with a luxurious table lamp and this year it was outdone by giving us an ideal white faux fur throw which I’ve been wanting to own to complete the total look of our bedroom.   She might have known that lately our master’s bedroom had undergone  make-over and it was so sweet of her to put so much thought on her gifts.  For all I know, she purchased it on line at The White Company London where you will find wide array of luxurious, gorgeous and high quality bed linen collections that we all wanted to be around in our bedroom.

bed linen collection I raved about…. and got it as Christmas gift!

Such a coincidence that the bathroom mats and towels that I gave her were also purchased on the same on line store.   Does it mean, I have good taste too?

Eye sore to us but for him its’ his treasure….

Since I have already bragged about my brother on my previous posts, let me brag about him all the way.  My earlier post pictured him not only as  a photographer, oil painter and now ……drum roll please.… he is also a collector (of LP records, comic books, old coins, memorabilia, etc).  His place is like a junk shop… everytime I visit his place I can’t help but somehow point out to him the clutter in his place.   What is  eye sore for us, for him are his  treasures….

So brace yourself for his clutter (errr… treasures)!

  1. His Long Playing album  & 45 records collection

This old turntable helped him enjoy the sound and music of yesteryears

memories… memories…

2.  Year 1960s and 1970s local comics collection

3. Old coins and paper bills

4.  Old movie star pics

There are a lot of things to post but some are really junk but I will try… Definitely, he loves his collection.. to him very precious… I think so too.   This is better than collecting girls….lol….

An empty office

These board magnets  are mostly given  by our physicians whenever they go for a business or professional leave or when they take their vacations to their country of origin and they would not miss giving us magnets as tokens.  My collection was prominently displayed in my office space and I would re arrange them from time to time everytime a new or another piece is handed to me by a returning physician or staff.   However, now, this lone picture reminds me of my magnet collection.   I was away for a month long vacation when the newly assigned director came to our department.   He wanted all office cubicles to be devoid of displays and my magnets are part of the casualty.   Even flower vases, file binders, folders.. and what have you should be kept away from sight.   Wow…to exaggerate,  our tables should be without any paper… only our computer and telephone unit!   No clutter!  So, the senior secretary had no recourse but to order our colleagues to remove my precious magnets while they too, were busy hiding all their things…. I can’t blame them for they were only following instructions….  But I wonder… why …oh why… the boss seems to be so particular of offices without any display… Well, our cork boards and bulletin boards are all empty… no postings…. no flyers…  Lol.. what kind of Administrative office we have….

When I came back to work… it was such a lonely sight in the office…. No more magnets…. But what can we do?    Till now, I can’t seem to understand our boss.   Oh well.. maybe I am just missing my magnet collection…

My bag collection

It’s not what you think!   The bag collection that I am talking about are not those signature bags that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.   I really can’t afford such extravagance.   It is a given fact, that only the rich and famous can indulge in such lavish shopping.  Even how much I wanted to own popular signature bags like  Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes Birkin, Jimmy Choo bags, but (sigh!), I simply can’t.   We were taught not to spend beyond our means so really, no way and no budget for expensive handbag that costs as much as a yearly salary.   I will just drool looking at them in society pages of glossy magazines.   Honestly, I am thinking about this designer bag craze and can’t understand why someone should spend thousand of dollars.  And yes, sure I am jealous of anyone who has the money to blow on such expensive things!

If in case, I will own one, for sure, I will be handling it like my first born child.   It will be covered with the finest cloth while not in use.  I will see to it that it will not get scratched or defaced in anyway.   But on second thought,  if I do have money, practical wise, I will just save that money or donate it charity or send a poor but deserving child to school.   Just dreaming!   I know I won’t have the bag or money to buy anyway.

So, I am happy with my collection (below)… Signature shopping bags!!!!  ….lol…. I’ve collected them all out of my little purchases and I saved them to remind me that once in a while (during payday), I have indulged in one way or another.   If I fancied a paper bag, I will make even a cheap purchase like a lipstick or compact powder, a spaghetti blouse just so I can have the paper bag to add to my collection….  It is reusable and can accommodate my other things in style….  I love it!

lol… my paper bags collection….

Call it cheap thrill!   But that’s how I am… happy and contented with little things.
